Status update with regards the new game.
so yeah I just finished the promo art for the game, so thats done.
played through the game 3 times this morning, testing it for bugs. It seems good but I'm going to get someone else to test it possibly on friday. There should display a game percentage on the game over screen, so I think I'll put that in later today, also I was gonna add a couple of mushrooms on one of the stages, just a visual thing.
I still haven't connected the mini game to the main game, so that also needs to be done.
But yeah, I am extremely happy with this game. I think it may be the best one I've done.

Ok so in 5 hours time, I added some mushrooms and a strange looking plant into this game plus a ammo/chakra recharge point. I also added some fences made out of plants, they weren't really necessary but they add to it, hard to describe how, but it relates to the design and general game design. I also started working on a new creature, but I don't know iff ill add it. As i mentioned the game is more or less complete, with ending bosees and such/ I might create a steam account soon, as I will definitely be selling this. I think it is the perfect game for the market.

Ok now I am going to code the percentage completion, I am writing this so that I do it, as I said I would earlier today but then worked on other things instead.

I just added this feature, where it displays how much of the game the player has completed, both on the game over screen and on the ending. The point being, if someone gets 100%, a secret game will be unlocked. I think I've made it quite difficult, but im sure they'r'll be someone, who is enough of a completionist to pull this off.

OK So I tested this game on my friends computer yesterday. 2 prominent bugs emerged, one graphical and one gameplay related. so now I have to fix those.
also I've Been working on a new creature, and the mini games. Hopefully I have both bugs fixed by tonight, and I get a chance to re-test the game later today.

Tested the game again. Looks like I was able to fix those bugs I mentioned. Will need to have a few more test sessions before it's properly ready for release.

Well yesterday I had a long testing session with a mate of mine. It went very well, extremely positive feedback. A few surface bugs propped up, one slightly major bug, where the music stopped playing in the 3rd subsection. Based on the testing, I'm going to make a few alterations, then re test. but as it is, I'm extremely pleased with this game, I think with just a little bit more spit and polish it will be well worth it, so sill a bit longer before this is published unfortunately. also I'm considering adding a ssave function.

I feel really totally uber pumped about this game.
I just fixed most of the the surface bugs and the music bug. I added some graphical additions that are improvements, Im wondering if I should incorporate save points, or just have a continue option on the game over screen. It definitely needs one or the other. A continue option might be better cause it wouldn't change the flow of the gameplay.

Akay well today, I made 2 objects do something when you interact with them, since during play testing my friend thought that they did things. I added an extra platform, making a jumping section slightly easier, and a plant, which is just a bit of background artwork. I'm thinking of adding an extra level, as during play-testing my tester thought that a cul de sac led somewhere, so now im making it that it actually does. im gonna start the new level after I have lunch.

Ok so Iv'e been writing on here everyday, this might as well be a blog. Anyway today I got up at 6, and worked on the new stage in this game. I now plan to do another 3 stages, even though the game is technically complete, I feel that this will make it a better game, and more interesting. How so? well the additional stages are a split path,and split paths are cool and add to replay value, now that I'm considering how this will be received on steam, I'd like people to feel like they get their monies worth, and as it is it's already quite awesome so I might as well just push it a little bit more. so yeah, I made an underwater tunnel with some kelp, now I am going to animate the kelp and put some underwater stalactites in, then maybe I will add some kind of killer fish (which is going to be a 3d model with a line of sight possibly.

I did some level design today, these new stages are gonna take some time to complete though, since they use all new assets, so I have to make the assets from scratch. I added 2 types of kelp and some 3d fish, they aren't an enemy but simply add texture to the stage. and walls. It has a good vibe sofar, and I might post a screenshot. I feel quite motivated since I had this playtested, and could see the reactions, a kind of validation that this is actually as interesting as I think it is.

today I worked on this underwater level, It needs more work,
I have to think about it conceptually, on the one hand I want there to be a large space that is explorable, but at the same time, I don't want it to feel too open worldy, ahhh there's not much to say, I basically justy have to keep working on it, It's late now, do I push myself further or take some chill time and go to bed. I do the best work when I am fresh and well rested, no Iv'e made up my mind, just now, Im going to do some more level structuring.. ahaahh. I posted a video of the stage on my twitter account in case anyones intereasted, listening to Sabbath

Well, in keeping with daily updates on the status of how this game is progressing, here's another update. Today I created some more background art, did some level design, and made a 3d model of a moray eel. I'm quite happy with the Eel, though it's not animated yet, and has no ai. I've worked out in my head, how I want this stage to be, ie the full level design,, It's insanely ambitious, but who cares, I don't, I want this to be as quality as I can make it, quality obviously being subjective, but I have my own standards, aesthetic and in terms of flow, and in terms of how it just is. it is a process, the process has to take it's own time. anyway I don't know if this is interesting reading, but whatever. Im happy with the eel, I also want to add Lampreys. I also made some more kelp.
