O IrfanView ( www.irfanview.com/ ) is an awesome image viewer. Sometimes I get issues with filenames, though, and for these cases I use a secondary program - a Korean viewer called Imagine (be careful, apparently there's another new viewer program called Imagine which is NOT Korean - the 'real' program has a yellow flower as a logo and probably hasn't been updated for a long time). It displays some GIF animations badly, though... Oh shit! I just got into good ol image corruption

Ghex is pretty good for when you are trying to find stuff inside binary files. I don't know if it works on windows though

I remember Kanoguti Soft (the japanese guy Saint mentioned a whiiile ago) has a quite a lot of interesting graphics (and other) programs, mostly ones that fuck up your image or make it look glitch-y, stuff like that. I never used any except one, which is more like a joke fun program called Dance+Layer, check for yourself! kanoguti93.web.fc2.com/soft6/ it is here, number 357 kanoguti93.web.fc2.com/soft/index.html loads of programs on this page

GNU GuileThis lets you put a scripting language into your C programs, and it even lets you put one of those programming language commandline things right into your program and it can interact with the rest of your stuff in a set up way, so you could use it to control characters in your game, or add like a dev menu thing where you can control everything. It is in a somewhat unusual / wankery programming language called Scheme, but it's fun to use weird things sometimes

just stayed up all night trying to debug stupid memory shit in a roguelike I'm making then found about the program valgrind which can go through and tells you all the times you fuck up memory access, it's real nice, although I guess it would be easier to just be a normie and not use raw pointers

One program I discovered a while ago while trying to find decent mac danmaku, I found Cannonml a program that makes programing shmups easy. heres an example of the program. x is to shoot. z is to move slow &start1&life300&s40 w50{htx bm10,90,-3,9 bm11,360 bm2,-2,0.3 f4} w40{htx bm10,20,3,3 bm,27 bm15,360 f3{2ha w140 bm2,180 bm4,40 f0{1hoad0.02} ko}} {q,100 w20 [5 br,5 bm9,90 bm2,2f2 w30] } {w300[ha br,180 bm,360 f3{2htxw50 bm3,90 f4{2htx bm15,360 bm100,100,20,1f10{w2ko}}ko} w40]} {w300[ha br,180 bm,360 bm5,,-4,4 f5{w30 bm3,7 bm3,130 f2{ay-0.05} bm4,80 f4{1}ko} w60]}

there genuinely is some need for a single user os that isn't as fucking shit as windows but is also not as stupidly bloated and complex as linux (which is still good imo for universities and businesses). plan 9 and inferno OS are also pretty cool os in this regard

it reminds me of how in the game Uplink (a sort of "super hacker simulator") the game has its own real irc client
it just adds a weird sense of realism
