Oh rad. I manage to miss them the couple of times I remember them touring here. I remember they played at the Town Hall with the big organ, that woulda been cool.

It was good to seem them play on the grand organ, and the Town Hall has great acoustics. I remember they got the crowd chanting, "Witch, Witch, witch"..

I've never been there when it's full, just to the free afternoon organ concerts they have sometimes. When there aren't many people the acoustics are a bit

Every Hako's album up to and including "SA-SU-GA" (where this song is from) I consider a masterpiece - she started with the dark ballad stuff like Nakajima Miyuki, then gradually switched to rockier songs in the 80s. Some of her earlier works have rather creepy lyrics, especially those from "Ningen Magai" album. She had almost no TV appearances, this is the earliest I know, with song "Kimono". What I didn't expect to find one day is her performance of a Russian song "A million of crimson roses", which is pretty well known in Japan - but the more famous version of it is sung by Kato Tokiko (the lady who also wrote Nanpasen for Akina). Hako's version is different and somewhat theatrical youtube.com/watch?v=O5Lolo1yxEw (invidious doesn't work on this video). Yamasaki Hako, Nakajima Miyuki, Morita Douji, Sasaki Konomi and Sai Yoshiko are all worth listening to if you like ye olde Japanese dark folk/rock music.
