Steam Direct is $100 per game now but it's reimbursed if you sell a few thousand units or somewhere around there. It's a seemingly better system than Greenlight where you had to buy votes or have a popular concept to release your game.
A lot of people are foaming at the mouth about $100/game being too cheap though, think they're angry that Steam is no longer a golden ticket to quitting your day job. The whole Steam fanbase seems rabid. I've seen a lot of negative reviews left purely for contrarian purposes as they strive to be as handsome and thin as Jim Sterling.
You could make physical copies through an on demand service Kunaki and sell them through Itch.io. If you do rent a PAX booth you can make a banner 'REVENGE OF THE SUNFISH NOW ON PC CD-ROM'

Hey does anyone know how difficult it is to get a game on Steam, or what the process involved is? and is it even worth it. I was thinking about publishing a new game on Steam maybe, just as an experiment, and charging 99cents for it. In my mind this will only really be worth it if it get between 2000 and 3000 downloads though, otherwise im going to continue releasing games on my site for free. I don't really need money, but it would still be nice because it would allow me to expand my operations. So yeah Steam, Iv'e never used it, and I don't even have an account. Is it any good? i told my parents about the greenlight thing, then i saw that they now made the direct thing and scrapped greenlight, so i might have to update them on that
