Do you like mame? I do. Lets talk about mame (Multiple arcade machine emulator)
Theres all sorts of forums on the net already that talk about mame, so lets focus on the more obscure games.
I can’t say I’ve played every mame game, but I have played most. One game called “Legend”, has quite unique game play. It’s an early sega game where you have to bribe enemies with bags of money. I love stuff with interesting mechanics like that, which is actually kindof rare for arcade games. Jalecos Phantasm is cool because it has a soul possession mechanic. Some other ones are acrobatic dog fight, (can jump from plane to plane), Anteater, (you control a tongue) Discs of tron, Space Harrier and Golden axe. What mame games do other people rate highly on the inspirational content scale? I would like to hear your thoughts.
I dunno maybe no-one likes mame anymore, well darn..

I can’t believe no one has responded to this thread, and yet the crypto thread already has 2 replies. As if crypto currencies are more interesting/important than Mame roms booo!! I sure know what my priorities are. So anyway im just gonna go with it and make believe like someone responded. Anywhoo, yeah, Irem games are known for their graphical polish, games such as “In the hunt” “Gunforce2”, “Under cover cops” and “R-type”. I believe some of the staff who worked for Nazca and created “Metal slug” originally worked for Irem. I think I read somewhere that the submarine sections In Metalslug3 are a homage to some of their earlier work on “In the hunt” also worth noting is that the soundtrack for the underwater sections in Metal slug 3 are remixes of a tune first used In “Air duel” and later in “Gunforce 2”. Despite the highly detailed sprite work and fluid animation (Which has always inspired my own animation to some extent, at least in terms of being a high watermark to aspire to) gameplay of most Irem games usually requires alot of rote learning and tends to be fairly unbalanced so as to gobble more coins. I have managed to finish Mslug 1 on one life however, but again this required alot of rote learning of attack patterns.

hey jinx i dreamed about you today, we played zx-spectrum games for a while, it's quite odd that when i dreamed about you you appeared on the forums again. can mame run soviet arcade games? I like the ZX-spectrum, Iv'e been meaning to put sir clive sinclair (the spectrum inventor) into one of my games riding his electric car. He's a funny person. He doesn’t carry a mobile phone and he always carries a slide rule. Mame can emulate some very obscure custom hardware, so it can probably run soviet arcade games. Do you know of any obscure "Polobius" style arcade games, designed by the kgb or secret agent labs? that would be intereasting. I played a really weird arcade game on mame once but I lost the rom and can't remember the name, but I remember it was sort of like Kungfumaster by Irem, except you were a character (I think with a machine gun) fighting men in arab garb, scrolling right to left, very heavy use of orange in the palette. Sounds awful I know, but im pretty sure it was a bootleg game, which is why im kindof interested in finding it. Some of the games by SunA are a bit wrong, and have a bootleg asthetic to them, for instance hardhead 1 and 2, pure nightmare fuel. They also did a Rolling thunder knock off that’s rather bad, I forgot what that was called.

We have MAME here in our medical office's computer but unfortunately half the games dont work. Used to play Bubble Bobble, Buster Bros and Metal Slug a lot. Would be a cool idea for a series, obscure MAME games. What series, like a youtube series? There aren't too many really obscure mame games perhaps, due to the availability of the mame romset I think. There are some weird bootlegs though. FYI I can finish metal slug on one life, on most occasions. Outzone is a cool rom, it's very fast paced, the sort of game where a split second mistake gets you killed. It used to be one of my brothers favourites, and we’d do two player simultaneous.

(MAME, more like LAME hehe)
I never really had arcades where I am. The closest was when the old pizza chain used to have an 'arcade section' that had Cruis'n USA and DDR back in like 2003 or so.
