I often get this, but then isnt everything some kind of rip off of something else? sometimes I get worried when it's obvious what I was inspired by, but then why should I worry about that.
I think a lot of people are afraid of being creative because they fear trying to be original. but new ideas come from recycled stuff so you have to copy stuff, people should be encouraged to copy stuff

Well one can always quote the idea of 'Great Artists Steal'. I think that what's stopping a rip off from becoming/is more a 'homage' or 'pastiche' or 'transmogrifier' of a former piece? What about the other way around? Is Secret Service: In Harm's Way a bad budget box game ripping off America's Army, or it taking inspiration from it and making it its own? I mean I obviously have got a god in this fight (via making my own things0. (uhhh maybe i should rest and type this whole thing tommorrow) ).
There's that one video (was it like some VSauce thing?) where they made a "correction" where people haven't even come close to discovering all of originality and that humanity has strong preferences to rhythm and hooks and choruses FOR EXAMPLE in music. But what I think in that video misses the point, as what most people wish to find in that 'scape of the dream is to explore the ins-and-outs / the crevasses / the deep dark dank dormitory crawlspace basement that is more known as the realm of organized structures (AKA Songs). As for myself, I believe that there is still some space to fine originality in structure somewhere and somehow.

I personally never worry about that stuff. Everything in the world is just a copy of a copy of a copy so who even cares. I mean, all significant pieces of entertainment rip off of each other- mario, one of the most iconic game characters that could be described as the face of video games by some came from a king kong ripoff game, that doesn't mean it is not a good game or that it is completely unoriginal. First FPS games after Doom were called Doom clones or Doom ripoffs before people realized that the fact that they came after doom or use the same engine doesn't make them less awesome. Everything you make, even if you think it's a copy, has a piece of YOU in it, even if you don't realize it. The only people able to make actual carbon copies and ripoffs are hollywood producers and illuminati. Also, I think the less you worry about this, the more original stuff you will make because you will not be afraid of putting original things in your game you would otherwise fear are ripoffs.

I am currently making a game that was inspired by Camel breeder by kubus, but I don't feel like a rip off, because in gameplay the game is not particularly similar, it just sort of inspired me to make a game that I could play in the same setting, and have a similar feeling of enjoyment playing it.

Funny you should ask that for it is the main reason I'm not sure about my comic series I'm thinking of making. The main character is the blue alien character with an s with a dashed slash symbol on his jacket. I looked up whether scifi had ever had the main character as a protagonist and was surprised to see that that has not been done very often in the works of fiction. The character design is based off a science project about genetic traits that combined multiple forms of popular media. The original name for the character was going to be "Sensory Man" being named after his SPD like behavior. However when I searched on google to see if it was original, welllllllll.... ... I get this -AAGH MY EYYYYES(honestly I've seen worse but come on man!) Apparently this thing is called a "Homunculus," a human diagram of the intensity/sensitivity of parts of the brain onto the certain body parts. The body part's size is dependent on the sensitivity and the result is this grotesque naked being. I unfortunately had do change my character's name to "The S Man" which sounds way less creative ;..( I'm actually thinking of making a recurring joke of another character annoying him by calling him that name.

pre01.deviantart.net/e8eb/th/pre/i/2016/045/d/0/image_by_nolovo-d9rsw3a.jpgHere's the original science project. When I first made the characters, by far my favorite was the snapple snork. This was one the first drawings I've ever made in years. The character has gone through many changes over time. Originally the sensory man wouldlve had white eyes, no coat, he couldn't speak and he would be violent and unpredictable. I then did a change to it trying to be a personification with the new coat. After a little while though I thought that he should have his own character.
