How tf did I even do this. (before I fixed the resolution, it used to play with higher than 256 bit colors and not lag as much)
Sounds like the midi instruments are different in 98. Surprisingly they load faster than next generation tech today. Also, this is on DOSBox, so that's crazy.

Physical is better I actually speedran ROTSF on a few machines to find out the minimum requirements it needs to run well and found out a Pentium 166 with 64 MB of RAM is about the least it can run on playably.

You can see on Jacob's website where it talks about ROTSF1, it says it can run on machines since Windows 95.
