Hi forum. I got an android phone for the first time. it gobbled up my 80 dollars credits in about 1 minute (literally) because some mobile data setting was on. Luckily i got the money back though. i have turned the setting off. i know about these damn phones downloading things without permission. but downloading nearly 100 dollars worth of some random update without my permission? this is new to me. I guess this is a big way the vodafone make their money. i've stuck with nokia phones with buttons for a while but now they seem to be getting kicked out.
are you guys into the smart phones?

No it was using my phone credit to download some update. I couldn't send texts because my 'credit was below 10%' magically, like 5 minutes since it was at $80 on my account. The phones automatically have all internet options turned on so that it uses all your credit, you have to manually turn everything off

It should tell you in app settings which program downloaded so much data, seems weird though. Eighty dollars credit would have to be over 14gb of data, right? or at least 10. What exactly is it downloading I wonder. Im not into smart phones, I do have one though.

I dont know, i'm terrified of it. i think vodafone just rips off the customers, i should probly complain although the guy I talked to was nice enough to give me money back without much hassle

I hate being called since it is either scammers who go through phases of calling me multiple times a day or it's employers or parents who want to impose their will on me and I would rather be ignorant of what they want. Like infernal said I really like having the camera function since I don't have any other camera and it's kinda nice to look at when I'm bored but there are plenty of otehr things that could take it's place. Ideally in the future I would like to replace owning a phone with owning a camera and an alarm clock seperately and if need entertainment get a book or something as I think it would let me be a lot more focused as I think looking at social media shit on a phone is time that is almost entirely wasted whereas doing specific things even like reading a book is not wasted, but right now I need it to speak with my gf who lives in another country currently so I gotta have a phone. oh yeah also I can only log into my bank account on my phone for some reason.

says it downloaded 43 meg of data that's very small by today's standards, you must have like no allowed data

Maybe you are on a similar plan to me? I only use data when I'm at home on my wireless so I don't have any allowance in my plan. So when i first got my phone and it went to use my phone plan data it was at a super high price D←:
