One of the old Sunfish members who stayed in touch with me for a long time (Infernal) recommended Viznut's website to me. I really like what he's doing, his views on today's technology and critique of unnecessary features and bloat. But most of all I like his opinion on modern society and desire to solve its problems with the discreet help of computers - instead of using them for automating the work, surveillance and similar tasks, he proposes, for example, to create a machine that can calculate the perfect relations between people, finding pairs and groups with well-matching abilities and personalities. Imagine what an effect it could have on scientific and cultural progress! Of course, this system also raises some questions, such as the dangers of heavily computerized world and whether it is possible to overthrow the current authority who is clearly not interested in creating such a society. But in general, I admire Viznut's thoughts on revolutionizing the humankind!

Haha yeah european deomon scene Iv'e been into the demo scene along time. i have some favorite tunes and ani8mations/.
Now it's kinda lame though I think, that is he demo scene, just technical stuff mostly, showing that you can make complex pc effects on c64 and amiga, yeah no one really is disputing this.. Sure some people will disagree that nowdays demo scene is lamer (can't say I made anything really), , I think globalization has kind of ruined this scene in a way, buut my cultural sensibilities are somewhat different perhaps to most . Sometimes isolation is best. I haven watched you tube and I am happy for it. I do not admire the globalized culture. it's very lame I think.

@@macabre Yeah, Viznut's ideas are quite intriguing. He observes the world from such an unique perspective that some of his visions are hard for me to grasp. I mean some of them seem so over-the-top, that they seem very difficult to take into practice in the real world. But the reason might be my own lack of insight. Great thinkers who push the envelope have hard time convincing their contemporaries. But I really share his love for low-tech and trying to make the best of limited resources available to you. But at the same time I'm not as cynical as him about the possible impending collapse of modern civilization. Someone might say that I'm a bit too much of an optimist for that.
@ Jinxtengu Yeah, I'm not exactly an expert on the subject, but I wouldn't generalize that much since were talking about a sub-culture that encompasses thousands of individuals. But there might also be some truth in your words. I've got to say that purely technical demos don't interest me that much either. I like stuff that also includes some sort of a story or interesting aesthetics etc. I guess it's the same as in everything else, that you've gotta find the gems of your liking from the vast pool of boring gray mass. Here's a few examples that I've enjoyed: Trilobit - Doctor (8k Atari 2600)Dansa In (C64)PWP- Robotic Liberation (VIC-20
BTW, I heard something cool earlier today.
And on the list, there was also none other than the Demoscene. It's quite a sweet sentiment if you think about it.
Oh, and since you mentioned C64, Jinx, here's a funny story. When I found ROTSF and became otherwise a follower of your work, I kept thinking "Bizarre Wound... ...where have I heard this name before....?"It took me some time to realize that the C64-game Ape Quest was also made by you. I stumbled upon a video of it like in 2015 (titled "Rape an Ape"), and found it quite hilarious. Years later I also tried it out with a C64-emulator. I don't think I managed to beat it since it was surprisingly difficult. I might need to try it again someday!

That is so fucking cool that the demo scene is regarded as an intangible cultural heritage. I wish I lived in your country!! I was just being harsh on it to be controversial, actually the stuff they do is amazing. The fact that the other things are recognized as intangible is great also. Here the government is still actively trying to destroy cultures, older or otherwise that do not fit the current conservative agenda,
I wanna live in Finland!!!

Jinxtengu Haha! Be careful what you wish for. This is a strange country. But yeah, some of the things here really work in much better ways than someplace else, so it can seem somewhat utopistic in comparison. Still, even though we have a major instance that aims to preserve cultural heritage, it doesn't necessarily mean that it accounts for the big picture. We have our own share of other problems as well, so I wouldn't call this a total paradise either. But I guess that's the same everywhere.
But admittedly technology and game-culture are hold in high regard here in the mainstream too, since some of the major "industrial success stories" are based around IT and games. The city I live in has the Finnish Game Museum, which is actually very well put together. I think it's one of the few of its kind. Surely worth a visit for a game-enthusiast!

The only problem though is that PC-Lamerit is currently available only as YouTube-videos. Every episode has English subtitles available, but of course it would be ideal to have a possibility to change the animated text-prompt from Finnish to English. The creator has hinted that there will probably be an interactive version released someday, with all sorts of tweaks and settings.
I was promoting the animated series PC-Lamers here earlier.
The creator recently released the first two seasons with proper animated English texts.
I'll leave these links here for anyone interested.

, it seems to aim for a kind of objectivity. Whether or not it achieves this, I guess it's impossible to know, but I'd say it undeniably holds some truth. , seems like Finnish society really functions quite well, or did back then, to allow such freedom. I am trying to imagine my highschool days in the same format.. depressing, disturbing, graphic novel material perhaps..

Thanks for sharing softest! 3cr is pretty keeewl. I had a show on there once, like a reeeal long time ago, playing commodore 64 music. I remember quite a few people called in, when we played some chris huelsbeck tunes. They were all excited and the like. that was fun.

Oh really, that sounds rad! I always thought it'd be fun to have a radio show, especially a local one rather then a web one. If I ever live within walking distance of the studio again I would probably do it.
