So I wanted to replay all the games in the WTF series because it's been ages and I remembered how amazing they are :")
I just completed the first installment and for now I think it has the best mini-games and I've been wondering something..
On the second level with the little lizard/chameleon where you have to click to extend your tongue and eat flies (Fav level !! It's my favorite mini-game concept of yours and it has great potential, also addictive gameplay), what is the song that plays? Is it from another game? If so, which and what track? And Jinx, if you're reading this and you happen to have composed it yourself (Since I know most of the music in your games is made on your own, even if it's a song from another game it's still remixed in your own unique style, really appreciate that), that's amazing! I'm totally addicted to the little tune, hoping that someday you'll release an extended version or compose a similar song
I may post in this thread a bit more as I finish the other WTF installments, since I only re-played WTF 1! I need to refresh my memory on all the others now
Sorry if this is a pointless/spammy thread by the way @ macabre and/or jinx, please feel free to delete it if so!! ^^

The WTF series definitely need more love, as well as all other old games that Jinx made - because they weren't discussed here much (besides ROTSF of course)... And I think they are all excellent and deserve their own threads It's very good to see such threads, in fact I've been thinking about discussing the old games for a long time... So of course this isn't spam and I'm not going to object, quite the contrary actually - do not worry about it! I remember playing that frog lizard stage... I also like the concept, back in the old days there was a similar macromedia flash game about a toad, so this WTF level always reminds me of it (though I think that flash game came out later than WTF). If I remember correctly, Jinx sometimes used music from Earthbound and other old games as well as his original stuff. Not sure about that frog lizard song, gotta check...

Thank you for replying, mac!! I agree, Jinx's old works are severely underrated and deserve more love.. RotSF is very well-known, if not his most popular work of course, but his other masterpieces like Earwax Sculptures, the WTF series, Extraterrestrial Indigestion and many others are usually not as appreciated and it's quite sad.. (Funky Adam was the real MVP, he was a legend) I hope with the recent appearance of Hello The Game, people begin to look at Jinx's other and older works and give them the love they deserve! I'm honestly really glad this forum exists, I can finally express my love for these games and their awesome creator, I've been playing them since I was a small child and even now they entertain me like almost no other games I played in my life. I wish I had found this place earlier, it's a very comfortable spot and I'm super glad to be a part of the Sunfish community!
I loved that toad game by the way, thank you for the link!! It's very similar to Jinx's lizard, but definitely not as cool! My record was 19 flies on the toad game
Also..
Just finished WTF 2 and 3 : D !!!! I had a lot of fun, some games were a little hard but they were the most fun! The 3rd level of that Tank game in WTF 2 seemed literally impossible to beat as I couldn't go through the pipe fast enough, because I kept clicking and clicking and clicking but I was never fast enough to dig through the grass/dirt to get to the pipe in time, the magma always covered it :") In the end I spam-clicked my mouse as hard as I could and when I got through the pipe I screamed in triumph. It was a great achievement and I'm glad I didn't give up because the little boss battle after the semi-impossible Level 3 was really cool I got 3 kills and Yellow Tank only killed me 1 timeWTF 3 was great!! My second favorite installment, definitely. I loved the digging game where you have to collect gems and dig through sand while avoiding fast enemies at the same time. I used to have a game exactly like that on an old Nokia phone with buttons, so that brings back very pleasant memories. My second favorite mini-game was the one where you are a hero with a sword, you briefly resemble Link from the Zelda series and you have to cut those little.. Legged potato people-monsters(??) in half, it was very cool!!
I also love these funky little worm lads that create beautiful and colorful randomized patterns when they travel across your screen
I'm off to play WTF 4 then finally begin Hello The Game!! Excited for what's next!

The WTF series were the greatest fix I ever got for my intense RotSF craving. Been ages since I gave them a spin, maybe it would be about time to try them again..? There are so many bits of brilliance interspersed throughout the mini-games, Jinxs flavour of design continues to be unmatched by anyone else for me.

Hey it's super cool that you folks are still able to get some fun out of these old games. They are literally some of the first games I ever made, and the whole series was sort of a prototype for the original sunfish. Many of those games have idiosyncrasies, and random keys in them that do random things, cause I was basically learning alot of new stuff at the time, simply through trial and error, which is why most of them are pretty janky. I think it's wtf one, but in the very first level, you are a space ship that can shoot bananas (by pressing "B") and lasers, anyway as I recall it's very unfair because you only have one life, but it is possible to proceed to fight a different type of enemy (that's sort of a blob with jaws), but the difficulty is literally insane. Ummm also another tidbit that I remember is, with the level, "goober paint" where you control a worm with the mouse, (this was actually a standalone game that I distributed in highschool) if you press J ten times it's shows a funny photo of me back then, and I must've been like 15 at the time. so yess To answer Eiichiyuu's question, the music in question isn't one of mine, it's a midi version of Shade mans theme from mega man 7 on the super nes.

I havent played many, but I did beat the first WTF game. Pretty great, though I dont remember much about it other than the stolen midi music. lol. One of my fav things about this old Jinx game is that its in windowed mode. I hate when these games are forced fullscreen, the resolution never looks proper with my monitor so theres a big black rectangle at the bottom. I know how to fix it its just annoying
