Do you think that chimpanzees have theory of mind? Should they be give the same rights as human beings? Lets discuss thoughts on the subject.

I find it hard to imagine that creatures which live in reasonably complex societies are totally incapable of empathising with others, but then again I know little to nothing about either chimpanzees or psychology.
If we give them rights does that mean we have to police them and make sure they don't violate the rights of each other?

Intelligence is one thing, but can a chimpanzee understand the meanings of morality, freedom of speech, existence or death? Academic or motor intelligence is one thing, but there are so many more things that derive from human intelligence, such all the social constructs we know and "love". So, when a chimpo gains a grasp of all these concepts, then we can talk. I think most humans can barely grasp these concepts but won't shut their mouths about it. I would very much prefer a cool chimpanzee to be my friend than some annoying human who has no idea what he is talking about. Plus, animals havea biggers grasp on existence or death than you might think. At least some, I am sure, DO understand death and the concept of it.

interesting, speedos. I like your opinion. and anyway anything you say about animals being dumber than humans is only coming from a human, so you unless you can get outside of being a human maybe then you could make a point i dunno. and why is being 'conscious' seen as more advanced, its just like a social thing like if you're a solitary creature you font need that, sorry for my english fkuc
