I reckon that my favourite Johnny game is 34. the music is really good I think, and having the exciting bit at the end it pretty good imo.
some people don't like that some of the bullets in the game are meme pictures, but I don't think it's like trying to include memes, it's more like it was just pictures that were lying around which is cool I think.
Also there are a lot of pictures of pipes and lpg plants and stuff in the backgrounds which have some kind of cool vibe imo. I used to see a lot of pipes when I was younger because my dad had a fish farm.
Also, there are a fair few levels with hidden endings and stuff but they're not hard to the point of destroying your soul which is nice.

a lot of the games do have cooler enemies and it sorta lacks the weird vibes of changing between different coloured areas like some other earlier games have

do you think kubus would have made games with 'advanced' pixel art if he could? I often hear people saying they make the graphics have an idiosyncratic appearance because they lack the skill or time to do more technically advanced graphics.

Also, I can't really answer the question as I haven't played any, but I liked one that saint played where the levels changed as you played it

in his older games often his style is more like simplistic pixel art, but over time it becomes more stylised and weird. I certainly think that this style is intentional and part of the point.
he probably didn't have the necessary skills to draw clean and good looking pixel art, but that doesn't necessarily mean he should have had that skill or that if he had it he would have used it.

i agree, i like this style. it would be cool to see a game with a mixture of more skill required art and then very basic trashy stuff too, but not as a joke

yea my fav johnny is one precisely cause it feels like one of those old game maker games but has a very nice feelin. other cool ones are 8 and 16. i need to play more

playing 16 feels like getting a blood test or something, but I think it is a rewarding experience
