Interesting how you failed to mention the two best id Software games, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake 3 Arena. Glad to see some love for Heretic though.
I'm a big fan of Fallout: New Vegas, I'd even say it's the best game to come out in the last decade. Beyond Good and Evil and Psychonauts are head to head for the previous one. Burnout Paradise is good, but not because of the racing. It's just fun to explore the city and break all the billboards. I've played Spelunky for hundreds of hours and had fun for most of them. D4 is a masterpiece.
Oh and the whole Metal Gear Solid series is the best.
Haven't really played many games for the last four years so I'm out of the loop.
kinda pointed out my favorite games in the obscure games thread (all of my favorite games just happen to be obscure). some of my other favorites are: Super Meat Boy (probably the best precision platformer ever made) Polda (probably the greatest adventure game ever made in the czech republic, really funny and full of witty humor and silly moments) The Neverhood (also a wonderful and unique adventure game, made entirely of clay, full of tons of amazing trolling moments and puzzles) also i am in particular love with a lot of flash games. i think there is something unique to most of them, they feel very selfless and full of "child wonder".
One of my favorite flash games was the ball revamped series (past the first one). The games had an interesting take on background and design for it's very simple gameplay. Another top flash game pic of mine was the amberial series. A good portion of egames still hold to this day. Some neopets flash games were pretty dang fun and I wish candystand didn't have to die.
Other games: Rollercoaster tycoon 1-3 Kingdom hearts series Spongebob playstation 2 games Zelda a link to the past and Ocarina of time Chrono Trigger Portal Series Heavy Bullets Metroid series Star Wars Battlefront 2 Any shooter from CAVE.
I liked Borderlands as well, but only the first one, the second one deviated too much from the original's form.
I agree, although still yet to play the second. The first one while it was pretty repetitive had this great atmosphere I loved. The desert, and even the repetitive bandit-killing kind of added to the feeling of a dystopian wasteland, which I enjoyed. also I really liked the music in it. I suppose I was disappointed because my actions never seemed to affect anything, like: kill this big-shot and you'll bring down the bandits, but then they all just re-spawn as they were before... and I would have liked to have seen those rakk hives wandering around the desert as individual creatures rather than just a boring boss fight with 1 of them
The second one looks more lush in some areas and less atmospheric
I was planning to get borderlands 2 but it's still 18 bucks at EB games, i'm waiting for the price to drop more.
I grew up playing this flash game, Chasm. it's pretty cute australian puzzle game www.y8.com/games/Chasm wow its so nostalgic!!!!!! it's actually really good game i think
oh yeah i played that! i think the game was featured on almost every major flash game website, it was pretty cool. also impossible as hell, i remember being completely stumped as to what the hell am i supposed to do in it. i generally like a lot of stuff made by Transience (an australian dev), www.transience.com.au/wp/
